How to give your home the Airbnb factor

July 31st, 2019

Not everyone can afford to have an investment property. Renting out your property while you’re away or if you frequently travel for work can be a great way to earn some extra cash.

With thoughtful interior design, you can increase your booking enquiries and the overall rental value – and even resale value, down the line – of your property.

Be bold

You want your home to pop in photographs. People want something that has all the style and sophistication of a hotel, but the comfort of a home. A statement print wallpaper or feature wall behind a sofa or bed will anchor a colour scheme.

Create that homely feel with a curated selection of smaller details. Consider a few cookbooks in the kitchen, a record player with a few records, or maps or lists of good local cafes, restaurants and sights.

Seems silly, but lighting can make all the difference. Save the cool toned lighting for the bathroom and swap in warm lights for bedside or living room lamps. Swapping roller blinds for layered sheer and heavy curtains provides privacy and a touch of luxury for you and your guests and shouldn’t break the bank.

Dress the bed

Layering textiles can make a bedroom seem really inviting to guests. Invest in some higher quality linen and load up on cushions and a throw or two.

Make it Instagrammable

Yes, this sounds annoying, but making your home a photographer’s dream is a sure-fire way to secure more bookings, plus helps to give each room a focus. It could be as simple as hanging unique art, having a bit of greenery or mini amenities in the bathroom.
